The OpenBioMaps Consortium (the Department of Evolutionary Zoology is a founding member of this consortium) has received mobile phones from FairPhone, the world’s only FairTrade and environmentally conscious mobile phone manufacturer, as part of a collaboration. The field mobile data collection application developed by OpenBioMaps is widely used by researchers and conservationists to record living organism occurrence data. Therefore, we are looking for the most environmentally friendly technical solutions to cause the least environmental impact of digital data collection of biodiversity data.
